DePaul Blue Demons Retro Long Sleeve
In 1975, DePaul debuted this little devil as its official athletics mascot, giving a nod to the schoolâs reputation for basketball in particular; however, the schoolâs Catholic roots make its choice of mascot curious at best. The nickname isnât necessarily related to the Devil himself, but actually its namesake, St. Vincent DePaul. When the school changed its name from St. Vincentâs College to DePaul University, its athletic teams wore a large âDâ on their uniforms. A game announcer called them the âD-men,â and the âDemonsâ nickname was born.
