Wichita State Shockers 1980s Vintage Heavyweight Tee
Back in Wichita Stateâs days as Fairmount College, students had a quintessentially Kansas side hustle to earn money: wheat harvesting, also known as shocking. Given the schoolâs football field (made of wheat stubs) and the Pep Clubâs nickname, the âWheaties,â it only made sense that football team manager RJ Kirk began calling the athletic teams the Wheatshockers. This WSU mark, which debuted in 1980, is a more subtle nod to the Shockers, decorating a curly script with simple stalks of wheat. A refreshed version of this logo is still in use today.
