Two years after losing every game in the 2015 regular season, the UCF Knights and then-head coach Scott Frost went undefeated on the year in 2017. While UCF, controversially, did not receive a College Football Playoff invitation, the Knights and fans everywhere claim their national title as granted by the Colley Matrix; the state of Florida also formally recognizes their national championship. Beyond their title, UCF football's turnaround made NCAA history, becoming the first Division I FBS team to improve from a winless season to undefeated in two years.
