Salukis are a breed of ancient Egyptian hunting dog, and SIU adopted the nickname in 1951 due to the region of southern Illinois being called “Little Egypt” for centuries. This iconic SIU saluki head logo was in use from 1977-2005, and we’ve printed it on the comfiest crewneck you’ll ever own.
