During the 1999 season, Florida State became the first team in NCAA history to go âwire-to-wire,â maintaining their No. 1 ranking from the preseason through bowl season in every poll. With Bobby Bowden at the helm and an incredible roster â including eventual Heisman-winner Chris Weinke and star receiver Peter Warrick â the Seminoles went 12-0 and defeated Virginia Tech in the Sugar Bowl to win their national championship.
