Butlerās costumed mascot was known only as the Butler Bulldog until 2006, when the costume was stolen and vandalized. After much media attention and outrage, the culprit was found and construction of a new Bulldog costume began. The university also held a vote to give the mascot a new name. The student body voted for āHinkā after the legendary coach Paul D. āTonyā Hinkle.
